Medication can be an important part of treatment for some mental health conditions.
MVGC’s psychiatric professionals work collaboratively with clients to understand symptoms, discuss available treatment options, and determine whether psychiatric medication may be appropriate.
Services may include psychiatric evaluation, review of current and previous medications, medication education, prescribing psychiatric medications when clinically appropriate, medication adjustments, monitoring effectiveness, monitoring potential side effects, and ongoing follow-up appointments.
Our psychiatric providers can also coordinate care with therapists, case managers, primary care providers, and other members of the client’s treatment team when appropriate and authorized by the client.
A Collaborative Approach
Clients are encouraged to ask questions and participate actively in decisions regarding their treatment.
Medication is not automatically recommended for every client. Recommendations are based on the individual’s symptoms, diagnosis, medical history, response to previous treatment, needs, and preferences.
Psychiatric medication services may be provided alone or as part of a broader treatment plan that includes therapy, case management, or other services.
